About the event
The architectural partnership of Jansen & Treloar designed a series of extraordinary luxury modernist houses in Adelaide’s southern foothills in the late 1960s and early 70s.
Bellevue Heights Modern opens the doors to the Oxlade House, a flamboyant, cruciform-shaped home built on the greenfield slopes high above Flinders University in 1970.
Casting off preconceptions and thinking from first principles, the architects also drew inspiration from the low, horizontal, organic structures of Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Burley Griffin and Bruce Goff.
Join an exclusive tour of this expansive family house and discover its thoughtful binuclear planning and exquisite detailing of brickwork, rich timber joinery, Woodtex ceilings, exposed ornamented trusses hung with intricate lamps and spectacular stone-and-glass cullet walls.
Bookings essential. Ticketholders will be emailed the address.
